Biography
Phoenix van der Weyden is a Brazilian guitarist and guitar educator, raised in Rio de Janeiro, who works primarily in the 1980s-rooted neoclassical shred and hard rock tradition. She picked up the guitar as a teenager after discovering Van Halen and the Shrapnel Records roster, and cites players such as Eddie Van Halen, Vinnie Moore, Tony MacAlpine, Jason Becker, Randy Rhoads and Nuno Bettencourt among her influences. Her instrumental solo work has been released through Shredguy Records, with singles including “Bushido” and “Strange Ways,” and she has built a following online through performance videos and tutorials.
