Biography
Daniel Magdic is a Swedish guitarist and composer best known as an early member of the progressive metal band Pain of Salvation, with whom he recorded the 1997 debut album Entropia. He left the band before the recording of their second album, reportedly over disagreements about the growing commitments that came with the band’s early success, though he has remained on friendly terms with them since. He is currently the guitarist of the Swedish progressive/alternative rock band Prehistoric Animals, which he joined (along with bassist Noah Magnusson) to enable the group to perform live; his playing and influences notably broadened the band’s sound, which draws on classic progressive rock such as Rush, Yes and Genesis alongside Black Sabbath and Kiss.
With Prehistoric Animals he has continued to record and release albums, including the band’s later work exploring dystopian sci-fi themes.
