Biography

Matthew op ‘t Eijnde is a Dutch multi-instrumentalist, producer, and composer from the Netherlands (Arnhem / Flevoland) who works primarily with synthesizers and guitar. He is a co-founder of the former experimental metal band IDEK., which he formed with former bandmates from Amongst the Unbroken.

Alongside IDEK., he leads Maenda, his solo instrumental project of cinematic, dream-like ambient music with post-rock influences, exploring love, death, and healing across music, film, poetry, and performance. For Maenda he records most instruments in his home studio and uses vintage synthesizers via the HKU Sound Studio in Utrecht, drawing on electronics, sampling, tribal rhythms, and field recordings. He cites Tesseract, Nine Inch Nails, Massive Attack, Periphery, and Muse among his influences, and has also moved into film directing.
