Biography
Hanna de Wijs-van Gorcum (credited as Hanna van Gorcum on the album) is a Dutch violinist, singer and nyckelharpa player based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Her playing draws on traditional Scandinavian and Irish music as well as baroque and rock, spanning experimental folk, early/classical and progressive metal contexts. She performs and records as a solo artist (including the album “Whispers”) and was a member of the experimental folk band AmmA, a project that blends folk, early music, classical, jazz and metal influences.
She has also worked in the Dutch folk-metal scene, performing nyckelharpa as a guest musician with Heidevolk and the folk band Alvenrad. She is married to Jacco de Wijs, lead singer of Heidevolk.
