Biography

Marco Sfogli (born 1980 in Naples) is an Italian guitarist specializing in progressive metal and hard rock. Originally a drummer, he switched to guitar in the mid-1990s after being inspired by Dream Theater. He is best known internationally as the lead guitarist in the solo band of Dream Theater vocalist James LaBrie, appearing on albums such as Elements of Persuasion, Static Impulse and Impermanent Resonance. Since 2015 he has also been the guitarist of the legendary Italian progressive rock band PFM (Premiata Forneria Marconi) and a member of Icefish.

A prolific session player, Sfogli has recorded with artists including Jordan Rudess, Virgil Donati, Simon Phillips and many others, and has released several solo albums (There’s Hope, reMarcoble, Homeland and Welcome to Ooglyworld). He also developed signature guitar models with Ibanez.
