Biography
Sophie Zaaijer is a Dutch violinist and violist who plays violin, viola, cello and contributes vocals. She is best known as a member of the Dutch pagan-folk and world-fusion band Cesair (formed 2008), where she handles violin, viola, cello and jew’s harp alongside vocals. Trained from a young age, she started on violin and later took up the viola, performing with the Dutch National Youth Orchestra and touring internationally before going on to play in a range of folk, chamber and ensemble settings.
Beyond Cesair, Zaaijer is an active session and guest string player in the Dutch progressive and symphonic metal scene.
